A4D Announcement: Changes to .COM & .NET Domain Secrets (276 views)
11 November 2009 12:44

Dear Customers

The .COM and .NET Registry recently announced that they will be changing their Domain Secret implementation on the 15th of November, 2009. As per the new rules a Domain Secret must be 8-32 characters long and contain at least one number, one letter and one special character.

There will be no impact on existing Domain Names; they can be Transferred with the current Domain Secret itself.

Impact on API users:

Resellers using the API for integrating their Control Panels will need to specify this information on their interfaces to ensure that their Customers are aware of the new rules while modifying their Domain Secrets.

If the validation criteria is not met, the ‘modifyDomainSecret’ method will throw the following error:
“Domain Transfer Secret should contain at least one letter, one number and one special character”
